  1. Well, it seems you all rushed right to your computer to strike while the iron was hot but I still somehow beat you here. LOL.

I noticed the great detail that journalism did not suit Whitman. In a way, he was looking to speak in such an original voice that he was at least 100 years ahead of his time and ahead of creative non fiction as a genre in addition to and including journalism. I thought you both covered some basics of Whitman's impact very well. He's the most complex of all our authors, so I give you plaudits for tackling Whitman!

On the flip side, by definition in covering such a giant, you glossed over quite a bit. His role in the introduction of free verse was enormous. . . and barely covered.

I think a less list of facts style organization (never read to us what we can read word for word on a handout or slide?) and more focus on major conclusions would have helped, and would have let you have more of a trade off in Presenting style versus a Dylan block and then a Lindsey block.

Getting the Presentation to be more of a conversation is an art and what you did was a great start. I appreciate it but also want you to learn how to be better from it, thus the specific constructive criticism.

I thought your presentation was very well done and had a lot of good information in it. I liked how you talked about what people thought of his work. There wasn’t anything that stuck out to me that could have been improved on. It’s tricky to present online I though you guys did a good job.

  3. Your presentation was very well done! I wanted to thank you guys for being brave enough to go first, especially with this new chaos of having to figure out how to do this online your presentation was a great example! I felt the presentation was very detailed and I cannot think of any constructive criticism.

  4. I really enjoyed your presentation! I was able to learn a lot of information about Whittman and I thought you guys did great with presenting online. I really enjoyed you covering how people either approved or disapproved of his work. I think some facts could have been a bit more expanded on like some of his most popular works.

  5. Dylan and Lindsay,
I really liked your presentation! One of the things that I liked the most about it was how you related Whitman's writings back to things that we have done and talked about in class. Relating it back to our Workshops as well as including the lady on the bus was very insightful. If I had to give a constructive criticism I would say that I wished that you had focused more on his relationship with modern writings. You didn't spend a whole lot of time talking about his influence on modern journalism and I feel that would have served your points well.

I agree with Mikaela! I didn't have much to comment on, and I really enjoyed the presentation! It
was cool to learn about his writing and elements like the common language he
    implemented...well done guys!

I really enjoyed this presentation and learning more about one of America’s most famous writers. The information was quite interesting and I found it very useful in understanding Whitman’s writing style. I have since read one of the pieces mentioned in the presentation, “Song of Myself” and it was wonderful! In my opinion Walt Whitman is a very underrated author and deserves 1,0000x more recognition than he gets. A note of improvement for the presentation, I would have personally liked to hear a little bit more about his criticisms. Perhaps some specific critics or direct quotations. Also I would have liked to hear a bit more about his overall writing style, but other than those few small things, I absolutely loved the presentation, Good Job Dylan and Lindsay:)

  8. Great presentation on such an unique author of his time. I really enjoyed that you guys talked about Walt Whitman's reception, because it is easy to think that he was always as popular as he is now. You guys did such a great job on the facts that you gave us. The only thing that I would have changed is the screen sharing. With so much focus on the handout, I started to just read ahead. I don't really think you needed to show it to the class all that much.
